Hodges and Associates
Hodges And Associates is a boutique litigation firm specializing in representing plaintiffs. We have always considered representing those who have been disadvantaged to be our highest calling. We have developed a reputation during the past 35 years of being a firm of last resort; many of our clients who have been unable to secure effective representation have come to our firm and found a satisfactory solution to their legal complaint. Please contact us if you think we can help you.
Personal Injury
Hodges and Associates accepts only major injury cases. In the unfortunate event you are injured through the neglect of a responsible third party, you are entitled to monetary recovery. The amount of your recovery is generally in direct proportion to the cost of treatment and time required to get you well, or if you have residual injuries, to achieve permanent and stationary status. Corporate nature being what it is, insurance companies have a distinct agenda; freely collect premiums and not-so-freely pay out on claims, particularly for personal injuries that are anything less than catastrophic. In many (relatively minor) injury cases, you are your own best negotiator because in "small" cases economic realities generally preclude litigation, and the insurance companies all know it. If, however, your injury is of a serious nature, you will greatly benefit by retaining an experienced litigator who is adept at doing battle with these companies. Al Hodges is precisely such a litigator with an agenda focused on maximizing client recovery.
Lemon Law
Between 1992 and 2000, Al Hodges was the "Hodges" of the Glendale law firm Taylor and Hodges which grew to be the largest lemon law firm in Southern California. Mr. Hodges was the senior trial attorney for the firm and literally "wrote the book" on the Song-Beverly Act (California Lemon Law). The partners, Taylor and Hodges, evolved different management styles over the years and finally agreed to disagree by dissolving their firm on January 1, 2000. Open files were evenly divided and half the legal staff subsequently moved to new offices in Pasadena with Al Hodges.
Consumer advocacy remains of great importance and interest to Mr. Hodges and a significant part of our practice still revolves around the lemon law. Prior clients and other attorneys continue to refer new cases. Our reputation precedes us as we have built long-term amicable relationships within the rather small and exclusive lemon law "community." Our record of trial wins has "softened" the opposition and most often manufacturers will settle early to mitigate their damages when we become involved. Litigation and trial costs can run into many thousands of dollars and the manufacturers are responsible for our (your) attorney fees should we prevail. Moreover, we are a very careful office and only accept strong cases likely to be successful should the matter actually go to trial. The bottom line, however, is that we successfully settle the vast majority of cases we accept. As a practical matter, your odds of actually winding up at trial on a lemon law matter are quite slim; approximately 100 to 1.
While the lemon law is not exactly rocket science. It is nonetheless a complicated specialty with unique pitfalls and there are surprisingly few truly deft practitioners in this area of consumer law. Contact us for a free evaluation.
