Counsel to our firm, retired Superior Court Judge Marguerite T. Simon, recently celebrated her one year anniversary with the firm. She joined our firm last summer, after twenty years on the bench, most recently as Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division for Bergen County. Our New Jersey office is located in Ridgewood (Bergen County), New Jersey in the prestigious Parkview Plaza building, across from the Ridgewood Duck Pond. We are minutes from downtown Ridgewood, and close to the Garden State Parkway (exit 165) and other major highways. Near by communities include Paramus, Glen Rock, Fair Lawn, Wyckoff, Midland Park, Saddle River, Waldwick, Allendale, Westwood, Oradell, and River Edge. We appear in courts on behalf of our clients throughout North Jersey and Central Jersey, including Bergen County (County seat of Hackensack), Hudson County (Jersey City), Passaic County (Paterson), Morris County (Morristown), Middlesex County (New Brunswick), Essex County (Newark), Sussex County (Newton), Union County (Elizabeth), Hunterdon County (Flemington), Monmouth County (Freehold), and Somerset County (Somerville). Significant matters are handled statewide. Premises Liability law involves accidents occurring on commercial, industrial, public, or private premises, including injuries or deaths as a result of slip and falls, negligent security and supervision, or falling merchandise. Product Liability and Product Safety cases handled by our firm include those involving industrial machines, motor vehicles and their component systems, helmet failures, conveyors, electrical tools, exercise and playground equipment, household appliances, and food products.
About Lawrence Simon:
Mr. Simon graduated New York Law School with a Juris Doctor degree in 1989. He completed law school under an accelerated program, finishing in 2 1/2 years. He previously attended Boston University, graduating from the College of Liberal Arts in 1986, with a major in Political Science. Mr. Simon graduated River Dell High School (Oradell, New Jersey) in 1982. He has regularly attended Continuing Legal Education Courses through the Association of Trial Lawyers of America's college programs, ATLA-NJ Education Foundation, and the New Jersey State Bar Association's Institute of Continuing Legal Education.
Mr. Simon is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, ATLA-NJ, New York State Trial Lawyers Associations, New Jersey State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Bergen County Bar Association. He belongs to various subcommittees of ATLA, including the Product Liability Law section, Motor Vehicle Collision section, and Premises Liability section, has been named an Advocate of Trial Advocacy by ATLA, and serves as an ATLA Ambassador to New York Law School. He is part of ATLA-NJ's leadership group, the Board of Governors, and serves on ATLA-NJ's Civil Practice and Fundraising Committees. For the Bergen County Bar Association, Mr. Simon is a co-chair of the Product Liability Committee and a member of Golf Outing Fundraising Committee. Mr. Simon also contributes articles to the Bergen Barrister, a quarterly legal publication.
Mr. Simon serves as a Motor Vehicle, Personal Injury, Product Liability, and Commercial Arbitrator for the Superior Court of New Jersey in Bergen County. Mr. Simon also is a New Jersey Rule 1:40 approved mediator, and handles court assigned and private party mediations in Bergen, Hudson, Essex and Passaic Counties.
Mr. Simon has lectured on the topics of alternate dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation before the Legal Assistants Association of New Jersey and the Garden State Paralegal Convention. He has also presented "Handling a Product Liability Case" at a Bergen County Bar Association sponsored seminar. In July 2004 he spoke at the ATLA Annual Convention in Toronto on Medical Expert Exams. In September 2004, on behalf of ATLA-NJ he spoke on the topic of "Internet Marketing for Trial Lawyers." In December of 2004, also on behalf of ATLA-NJ, he spoke on the effect of the Uniform Probate Code on Wrongful Death actions. In February of 2006, at the ATLA Winter Convention in Honolulu. Mr. Simon will be lecturing on "Ten Ways to Stay Competitive."

Mr. Simon has been asked by ATLA to speak at the 2006 ATLA Winter Convention in Honolulu. Mr. Simon recently spoke at the 2005 ATLA Annual Convention in Toronto, on the topic of "Plaintiff Medical Exams-We Cannot Always Rely on the Treating Physician."
Mr. Simon spent his childhood years in River Edge, New Jersey. He is currently a resident of Wyckoff, New Jersey. Mr. Simon's wife Leslie is the firm's Senior Paralegal and Office Manager. Mr. Simon's mother, Marguerite T. Simon, a retired New Jersey Superior Court Judge, is counsel to the firm. His brother David, also an attorney, is admitted to practice in Florida, California, and the United States Territory of Guam.
