George Keches
George N. Keches, a senior and founding partner of Keches & Mallen, manages the firm's very active law practice consisting of the Workers' Compensation, Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice Departments. Keches & Mallen's 19 attorneys make the law firm one of the largest plaintiffs' personal injury practices in the state of Massachusetts. Mr. Keches concentrates his practice in Workers' Compensation and other related areas of the law and is considered to be an authority in the field. He has a reputation for being one of the most aggressive and knowledgeable attorneys practicing law at the Department of Industrial Accidents and the Social Security Administration. Regardless of the case's complexity, Mr. Keches enjoys a near unprecedented success rate. He routinely handles supplemental benefits claims that injured employees may be entitled to under federal Social Security and state Accidental Disability Retirement laws. Mr. Keches says that "representing injured workers when so much is at stake in supporting themselves and their families is the most satisfying career I could have chosen."
Mr. Keches was the youngest Commissioner ever appointed by a Massachusetts Governor to the Department of Industrial Accidents which oversees the adjudication of workers' compensation cases. After serving as Commissioner, Mr. Keches became a founding partner of Keches & Mallen, P.C. His professional experience includes teaching Workers' Compensation law as a professor at New England School of Law for over 13 years. He has served as Chair of the Workers' Compensation Committee of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He has lectured extensively to attorneys in various legal education forums including the Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys. He has been a television and radio guest addressing issues concerning the rights of injured workers and has been invited to participate in the Trade Association debates concerning changes in the Workers' Compensation laws.
Mr. Keches was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1975. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Northeastern University and Suffolk University Law School. He was Counsel to the Joint Committee on the Judiciary in the Massachusetts Legislature as well as General Counsel to the Massachusetts Bar Association from 1975 through 1978.
Richard Mallen
Richard T. Mallen is a senior and founding partner of Keches & Mallen. He is co-manager of the firm's busy and extensive personal injury practice. He is an aggressive, experienced attorney who is devoted to protecting his clients' rights and obtaining the benefits deserved. "It gives me and this firm a tremendous amount of personal and professional pride to legally assist injured employees who have suffered the devastating effects (both medically and financially) of a work related injury."
Prior to co-founding Keches & Mallen, P.C., Mr. Mallen was a defense counsel for almost ten years for one of the state's largest insurers practicing in all areas of personal injury law. He also practiced extensively in the workers' compensation field at a major southeastern Massachusetts law firm. Mr. Mallen has held seminars with many union representatives relating to the legal rights of those injured in the scope of their employment.
Mr. Mallen was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 1978 and the U.S. District Court in 1979. He is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy for Trial Attorneys. He is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School. He received an MBA from Cornell University, an undergraduate degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and is a graduate of Boston Latin School.
