About Richard Adler
Richard H. Adler is an honors graduate of Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he received his Juris Doctorate degree in 1980.
As an attorney and managing partner for the AV rated law offices of AdlerGiersch PS, Mr. Adler's legal practice is exclusively dedicated to representing victims of traumatic brain injury, traumatic spinal injury, and traumatic musculoskeletal injury.
Mr. Adler's extensive legal and medical knowledge is widely recognized. He authored Whiplash, Spinal Trauma, and Personal Injury Case; Medical Aspects of Soft Tissue Injuries; and Survival Guide: Chiropractic Practice Guidelines. He is currently writing Brain Injury 101: A Guide to Better Traumatic Brain Injury and Personal Injury 101: A Guide for the Injured. Both publications are due out in 2005.
Mr. Adler co-produced several educational and instructional videos for doctors on testifying at deposition and trial with Dan Murphy, DC, DABCO. These videos have received the highest rating from reviewers. Mr. Adler contributes to and edits the law firm's monthly newsletter, "The Advocate," which focuses on various medical/legal/insurance aspects of personal injury claims. ABOUT JANET L. THOMAN
JANET L. THOMAN received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Washington School of Law in 2006 and was licensed to practice in Washington the same year. Ms. Thoman has extensive prior legal experience from her 12 year career as a Certified Paralegal for the firm's Founding Principal, Richard H. Adler.
Ms. Thoman is a contributor to From Injury to Action: Navigating your Personal Injury Claim (2011) and working as a contributing author on Understanding Medical Words: Musculoskeletal Dictionary and Common Legal Words in a Personal Injury Case. She is also a contributing author to the law firm's monthly newsletter, “The Advocate” dedicated to cutting edge medical-legal-insurance related issues for health care professionals who treat those with personal injuries. She has been a speaker for continuing legal education seminars for the Washington State Association for Justice and other organizations.
Ms. Thoman has been on the Executive Board of the Brain Injury Association of Washington since 2007 and serves as Chair of its Legislative Advocacy Committee. Ms. Thoman is also an Eagle member (highest advocate level) of the Washington State Association for Justice, and participating members of the Washington State Bar Association.
Ms. Thoman has been a resident of South King County for nearly 30 years and is pleased to serve her community as the primary attorney in Adler ? Giersch ps Kent location, close by to the King County Courts’ Regional Justice Center.

ABOUT Richard H. Adler
Richard H. Adler is a 1980 honors graduate of Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he received his Juris Doctorate degree. He was called to the Bar in Washington State that same year.
Mr. Adler is the founding principal of Adler ?Giersch ps, a law firm dedicated exclusively to representing victims of traumatic brain, spinal trauma, joint injuries, and musculoskeletal trauma.
He has served as Chairman and President of the Brain Injury Association of Washington (BIA-WA) from 2003-2009, and currently serves as Chairman of its Executive Board. He is credited with turning around the BIA-WA’s organization with initiatives to implement BIA-WA’s mission of prevention, education, support, and advocacy for brain injury survivors and their caregivers. He led the BIA-WA’s Advocacy Committee and organized a powerful coalition of healthcare, businesses, sports, and community partners to enact the “Zackery Lystedt Law,” named after his client. This is the first-in-the-nation law that “prevents preventable brain injuries” of young athletes by requiring medical clearance before returning to practice or competition following a concussion. This law is now used as model legislation in other states in the United States and has been endorsed throughout the country by medical, legal, sports leaders and organization.
Mr. Adler has authored many publications on traumatic injuries for attorneys, healthcare providers, and the injured. His most recent book, From Injury to Action: Navigating Your Personal Injury Claim, joins other top-rated writings including Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury: A Guide for Survivors and Families; Spinal Trauma and the Personal Injury Case; and The Medical-Legal Aspects of Soft Tissue Injuries.
Mr. Adler is frequently an invited speaker on insurance law, personal injury law, traumatic brain injury and expert testimony to attorneys, medical doctors, chiropractors, physical therapist, psychologists, and massage therapists.

ABOUT ARTHUR D. LERITZ
Arthur D. Leritz received his degree in Political Science from the University of Washington in 1996, followed by his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University College of Law in 1999.
During law school, Mr. Leritz lent his time to the Family Advocacy Clinic providing guidance to those who could not pay for legal services. It was during his American Association for Justice Trial Competition that Mr. Leritz decided his career path would involve handling personal injury cases in a litigation practice. Prior to joining Adler ? Giersch ps, Mr. Leritz represented and defended insurers for nearly 11 years handling a wide variety of complex insurance and personal injury cases. He has in-depth and broad litigation experience having handled many cases in the trial courts throughout the state of Washington and the U.S. District Courts. It was through his legal representation of at-fault defendants and insurance companies that Mr. Leritz realized his true calling was to advocate, protect, and defend those with traumatic injuries.
Mr. Leritz was also responsible in part for new case law that affects the insurance policies in the state of Washington. His worked cleared up legal ambiguity in the law concerning the scope of insurance coverage available for businesses, such as an automobile repair shop. This case went all the way to the Washington Supreme Court in 2004 resulting in a unanimous decision (9-0) and has been subsequently cited as the “standard of review” on summary judgment and issues of statutory interpretation.
Mr. Leritz is licensed to practice law in federal court and all jurisdictions in the state of Washington. He is a participating member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Association for Justice-Eagle, American Association of Justice, and the Brain Injury Association of Washington.
Mr. Leritz has been selected and served as the court-appointed arbitrator in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties to resolve personal injury and insurance cases.
In his spare time, Mr. Leritz enjoys restoring old Volkswagens. He is also currently restoring a 1957 DKW 3=6 Sonderklasse.
Mr. Leritz is a contributor to From Injury to Action: Navigating Your Personal Injury Claim (2011) and is working as a contributing editor to future publications, Understanding Medical Words: Musculoskeletal Dictionary and Common Legal Words in a Personal Injury Case. Both are set for publication in the latter part of 2011.
About Jacob W. Gent
Jacob W. Gent began working at Adler ? Giersch ps as a Case Manager in June 2002 and since then has been effectively assisting those with traumatic injuries.
Mr. Gent earned his Juris Doctor from Widener University School of Law in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in August 2009. He continued working for Adler Giersch, PS while attending law school at night, completing a four year evening program in three years. While in school he was a member of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society and participated in mock trials and trial skills workshops. In the summer of 2007, he studied international and constitutional law abroad through the law school=s exchange program in Sydney, Australia. During his final year, Mr. Gent worked in the Widener University Civil Law Clinic, providing free legal services on a wide variety of matters to indigent, elderly and disabled individuals.
Befitting his ‘rising star’ status, Mr. Gent was admitted to the Bar and sworn in by two Washington Supreme Court Justices, Tom Chambers and Debra L. Stephens during a private ceremony in October, 2010. He is licensed to practice law in federal court and all jurisdictions in the state of Washington. He is a participating member of the Washington State Bar Association, Washington State Association for Justice-Eagle, and the Brain Injury Association of Washington.
Mr. Gent will continue working closely with managing partner, Richard H. Adler, in the firm=s Everett office. He will be living and working in the greater Everett area and looks forward to his involvement in the Snohomish, Skagit, Whatcom and Island counties. He has written articles in the firm=s Advocate newsletter on insurance and injury issues and has also lectured on similar subjects to healthcare providers. He is also a contributor to Mr. Adler’s recent book, From Injury to Action: Navigating Your Personal Injury Claim (2011). Prior to joining Adler Giersch, Mr. Gent was a Litigation Specialist for Farmers Insurance Company handling personal injury claims for over four years. While at Farmers, he completed the Claims Management Training Program, served a backup Claims’ Supervisor, and was a Certified Liability Claims Specialist by the Insurance Institute of America. He also has experience handling medical, dental, vision and disability claims for Teamster unions.
Born and raised in central Illinois, Mr. Gent moved to Seattle in 1994 after receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Eastern Illinois University. He worked for over a decade as an actor, stage manager and director at several semi-professional theaters throughout the Puget Sound region. He is excited to bring the creative energy and communication skills from the stage to the practice of law in the courtroom. In addition to live theatre, Mr. Gent loves to travel.
