Anderson Hostnik PLLC

The Firm with a History of Helping People

At Anderson Hostnik PLLC we believe in providing quality legal representation. We attempt to resolve claims in the best manner possible for each of our clients, including exploring alternatives to litigation when appropriate.

Anderson Hostnik PLLC was formed to focus on the representation of individuals and smaller businesses. Our attorneys are admitted to practice law in the states of Washington and Massachusetts, various Federal Courts, and a number of tribal courts throughout the northwestern United States. We concentrate our practice in the areas of Personal Injury, Business, Divorce, Employment, Estate Planning, Probate, Real Estate, and Indian Law.

Arvid Anderson, now retired, and Charles Hostnik each received an AV peer review rating from our colleagues, which is the highest rating available. This rating is based both upon legal ability and upon ethical standards.

In addition, our law firm has been rated as one of the top 240 law firms in the United States that Fortune 1000 companies view as providing superior client service. An independent survey of corporate counsel for Fortune 1000 firms, resulted in "The Survey of Client Service Performance for Law Firms: The BTI Client Service A-Team" prepared by The BTI Consulting Group, Inc., a Boston-based market research and management consulting firm. The survey rates our firm in the category of "Best in Providing Value for the Dollar." We are committed to this principle, and are flattered that our efforts have been nationally recognized.

We take a flexible approach to legal fee agreements, and have contingent, hourly, and flat fee plans.  If it is difficult for you to come to our office, home or hospital appointments are available.  We welcome the opportunity to consult with you in a confidential setting and get your questions answered.

  •  Initial half hour consultation at no charge

  • No recovery, no fee for legal services on contingency cases

  • Home and hospital appointments available

We look forward to the opportunity to work with you.

J Arvid Anderson

Arvid was born in Aberdeen, Washington and grew up in Spokane and Tacoma.  He received his undergraduate degree with honors from the University of Puget Sound and graduated with honors from Gonzaga University School of Law.

Arvid was named by the survey, “The Best Lawyers in America 1987,” as among the top one percent of lawyers in the United States.

Charles R. Hostnik

Chuck grew up on the East Coast.  He is a graduate of Dartmouth College, and attended law school at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma.  Chuck worked for the Washington State Attorney General's Office and a larger Tacoma law firm before joining Arvid to form Anderson, Burns & Hostnik, the predecessor firm to Anderson Hostnik PLLC.

Chuck practices in both state and federal courts, as well as many tribal courts. Chuck is a semi-retired tribal court judge, having acted for 16 years as a judge on specific cases for 32 different Indian tribes located in the states of Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana, Wisconsin and Nebraska, and was a Special Master for the Mashantucket Indian Tribe in Connecticut.  He still is asked to sit as a Judge for various Tribes in the Pacific Northwest.

In addition to Indian law, Chuck has an active personal injury practice and does most of the business and corporation work in our firm.  He also handles construction litigation, probate and real estate matters.

Chuck has been a contributing author to "Washington Practice,” a multi-volume reference publication used by attorneys throughout the State.  In addition, he has been a speaker and instructor at several legal seminars and training sessions.  He has been listed in Who's Who in American Law, Who’s Who in the World, and several other Who's Who publications for several years.

Chuck is a member of the American Bar Association, the Washington State Bar Association and the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association.  He is a former member of the Northwest Tribal Court Judges Association and the North American Indian Judges Association.

Vincent R. McDonough

Vince began his career as a prosecutor in Boston, Massachusetts and tried hundreds of cases as an Assistant District Attorney, and argued dozens of appeals.  He also drafted and executed search warrants, and investigated and prosecuted homicides.  Vince entered private practice as a securities litigator.  Later he joined the legal department at Mellon Financial Corporation (Mellon) as Senior Counsel.  There he counseled many Mellon investment adviser subsidiaries concerning regulations, transactions, corporate governance and human resource issues.

Vince came to the Pacific Northwest in 2004, when he joined Prime Advisors, Inc. as General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer and Chief Compliance Officer.  He spent nearly nine years helping lead Prime’s growth from an entrepreneurial operation to a large and sophisticated investment management firm.

Vince founded the McDonough Group LLC, a business exit planning consulting firm, shortly after leaving Prime.  The McDonough Group focused on helping business owners ready themselves for successful business and personal transitions.  Today, Vince educates other lawyers about exit planning; and he brings this new dimension to Anderson Hostnik’s counseling of its corporate/business clients, as well as its probate, trust & estate clients.  In addition to those practice areas, Vince also counsels clients on Indian law/Native American law, personal injury, employment and criminal law.
