Mr. Reed attended Arizona State University (J.D. 1981; B.S. magna cum laude 1978) and was a member of Law Review.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Arizona in 1981 (Trial Practice Section Member),  U.S. District Court, District of Arizona in 1982, and to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit in 1983.
