Dwyer Williams Potter Attorneys

Get the Settlement You Deserve!

Put one of Oregon's most experienced personal injury law firms to work for you.

Roy Dwyer, Tim Williams, and Rich Potter, along with our partners and associates, have settled thousands of personal injury cases and obtained tens of millions of dollars for our clients. Our vast experience sets us apart from most other Oregon personal injury attorneys. We have handled thousands of cases involving car accidents, car crashes involving drunk driving, semi truck accidents, traumatic brain injury, nursing home abuse, bicycle accidents, premises liabilitydog bites, wrongful death and other serious injuries. We handle all cases, big and small, with the same dedication and tenacity that other firms reserve for only big cases. It is with this approach that we are able to get our clients top dollar for their injuries.

We are personal injury specialists. This includes brain injury, neck and back injury, including whiplash and herniated discs, rotator cuff tears and other shoulder injuries, knee injuries, fractures, wrongful death, and much more. While some firms take a “one-size-fits-all” approach, practicing personal injury as well as other fields of law, we feel that clients are better served if their attorneys specialize in only one field of law. It is with this fundamental belief that we train, study, lecture, practice, and litigate only in the field of personal injury law.

We are an Oregon statewide law firm. Some lawyers attempt to serve the entire state out of a single office, usually in Portland, Salem, or Eugene. They try to do everything by mail, which often leaves the client feeling left out, with little to no communication. Moreover, the judge and jury do not consider those attorneys local. We are different. We have physical offices across the state, including Bend, Eugene, Grants Pass, Medford, Portland, and Roseburg. Our attorneys strive to meet with our clients in person, not by phone or mail, and have staff available to do the same. Thus, we are able to provide personal legal services to injured clients across the state.

We are trial lawyers. Many firms and attorneys call themselves “trial lawyers” or “trial attorneys,” but when push comes to shove, they are afraid to actually go to trial. Those lawyers will often talk their clients into a low settlement, or worse yet, withdraw from the case entirely so as to avoid litigation. We are different. Our attorneys go to trial more than most other Oregon attorneys. We pride ourselves on our expertise, tenacity, and professionalism in litigation. Because of this approach, we have a long record of success, as can be seen on our Case Examples and Case Results pages.

We pride ourselves on our qualifications and success. Roy Dwyer, our firm’s senior partner, has been an Oregon personal injury lawyer for over 45 years. Tim Williams has more personal injury experience than most attorneys in the state. Rich Potter uses his extensive military experience in his firm approach to negotiations. Together, our attorneys have obtained in excess of $12 million on behalf of our injured clients over the last two years alone! Please explore our website and contact us should you need quality legal representation.

Roy Dwyer is the senior partner in the firm, and has been practicing law since 1962. Roy is particularly aggressive, and doesn’t take guff from insurance companies or adjusters. He has tried hundreds of cases to jury verdict, and has handled many appellate cases as well. Roy has represented clients in a wide range of cases since 1962, including car collisions, whiplash compensation, catastrophic injuries, wrongful death, surgical cases, and also including legal and medical malpractice cases. Roy has been extremely successful, obtaining tens of millions of dollars on behalf of his clients over the years. He settles most of his cases without the need for trial, but if he cannot get a reasonable settlement, is quick to file the case with the court and proceed with litigation.

Roy is currently a member of the following organizations:

  • Oregon State Bar
  • Federal Bar – United States District Court of Oregon
  • Historical Society of the United States District Court
  • American Bar Association
  • Advocate Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, Oregon Chapter

Roy Dwyer was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Air Force from 1949-1953. Roy then attended the University of Alaska, and later transferred to the University of Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1959. He next attended the University of Oregon School of Law and received his law degree in 1962.

After graduating law school, Roy immediately opened up his own practice in Eugene, Oregon. Roy has practiced law in Oregon since 1962, focusing his statewide practice in the field of personal injury litigation. Roy has a son and a son-in-law who are both personal injury attorneys as well.

Roy lives with his wife in Bend, Oregon. He enjoys hiking the Cascade Mountains and playing with his two dogs. Some of Roy’s more notable hikes include the Grand Canyon, the High Sierras, a trek through Nepal, and hiking the Great Wall in China. In addition to hiking, Roy enjoys travelling the world. He has visited Laos, Malaysia, China, Vietnam, the Middle East, as well as many other places. In 2002 and again in 2003, he traveled to Vietnam and rode his bicycle from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, a distance of 1,000 miles each trip. He plans to continue travelling the world, and always has an exciting trip planned. Most of all, Roy enjoys spending time with his family, including his four children and seven grandchildren.
