Mr. Ledgard is a native of Northern New Jersey, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, in Communications with an emphasis in Advertising from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck. He received his Juris Doctorate from Western State University School of Law in Fullerton, CA.
Before joining Capretz & Associates, Mr. Ledgard gained valuable experience working as a law clerk, and then, attorney, at the nationally recognized mass tort law firms of Lopez, Hodes, Restaino, Milman & Skikos and Andrews & Thornton in Newport Beach. While at Lopez, Hodes et. al., Mr. Ledgard was an integral part of the organization and work-up of the firm's hundreds of successful diet-drug settlements. Mr. Ledgard furthered his mass tort experience at Andrews & Thornton where he helped head-up the pharmaceutical product liability and class action litigation - specifically PPA and Ephedra claims. He was responsible for the oversight and supervision of the work on the firm's PPA & Ephedra cases from inception to resolution, as well as hundreds of cases where law firms across the country retained Andrews & Thornton as co-counsel. Mr. Ledgard joined Capretz & Associates in March 2002 and is actively involved in the firm's many areas of pharmaceutical and medical device litigations including Medtronic & Guidant Defibrillators, St. Jude Silzone Heart Valves, Digitek, Avandia, Zyprexa and Vioxx. He also practices in litigation dealing with recalled or defective home-related products such as roofing shingles, plumbing systems, etc.
Mr. Ledgard is admitted to practice by the State Bar of California, and the Federal US District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of California. He is a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA), the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), the Orange County Bar Association (OCBA) and Orange County Trial Lawyers Association (OCTLA). In April 2002, he was appointed to the Baycol MDL Discovery Committee.
