Leonard Dooren began his career in 1992 as an attorney after graduating with honors from the Washington College of Law in the District of Columbia. For the past fifteen years, Mr. Dooren has dedicated his career to meeting the needs of his clients.

He has worked in the areas of medical malpractice/negligence, product liability and personal injury law.

Before teaming with Patrick Malone, Mr. Dooren served for more than twelve years as defense counsel for the largest hospitals in D.C. and did work for the largest private insurer of doctors in D.C. defending medical malpractice cases in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia.

During those years Mr. Dooren learned first hand what the doctors and hospitals did right and unfortunately what they did wrong.

This experience is the single greatest asset that Mr. Dooren brings to his clients. Not every dreadful outcome is the result of bad care, but when bad care results in an injury, the tragic nature of avoidable injuries is heart wrenching. Mr. Dooren’s more than decade of experience helps tell the difference.

The daily grind as a defense attorney taught Mr. Dooren not only the lessons of the law, but more important, provided him with a unique opportunity to see the lawyers on both side in action. The ability to learn not only about what the doctors did right and wrong, but also what the lawyers did right and wrong is an invaluable resource for our clients and our team.

Mr. Dooren worked his way through law school in a small law office in the District of Columbia, Jay Weiss, P.C., specializing in personal injury. Mr. Dooren cut his teeth as a law student with hands on experience in hundreds of small personal injury cases. He has never forgotten or wavered from his role as the advocate for each and every one of his clients.

Mr. Dooren has received a “BV” rating by Martindale Hubbell, an honor for a young attorney. Mr. Dooren is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland Bar Associations. Mr. Dooren is an experienced litigator having handled well over 2,000 depositions in his career and tried many complex medical malpractice cases hand-in-hand with his mentor Brian Nash, Esquire.

Mr. Dooren has challenged and defended medical experts of all specialties. He has litigated cases ranging from birth trauma to brain surgery. Mr. Dooren’s philosophy is that early and aggressive action on cases is the key to success.

In addition to his experience as a litigator, Mr. Dooren has prided himself on his motions as well as appellate practice. Mr. Dooren continues his mission to become the best attorney possible having recently spent a week at a nationally recognized trial school, essentially Boot Camp for the Trial Lawyer.

Mr. Dooren, his wife Jennifer and his three young daughters live in Rockville, Maryland. Mr. Dooren takes an active role in his community, from helping in his daughters’ schools to serving on the Board of Directors for the Heritage Walk Homes Corporation. Mr. Dooren is also a member of St. Elizabeth Church and is a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Dooren grew up on the New Jersey shore. As a young man, he was a competitive sailor and swimmer and spent years as a swim coach and instructor. He went to college at Villanova University were he graduated with a degree in economics. After college, Mr. Dooren moved to the Washington area were he has made a home for himself and his family. He graduated with honors from the Washington College of Law at American University. While in law school Mr. Dooren was awarded several academic scholarships and awards for his work and served as a writer for the American Jurist.

In addition to state bar admissions in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia, Mr. Dooren is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia.
