There are two different types of sexual harassment: quid pro quo, and hostile work environment. Quid pro quo harassment is when an employee is promised a benefit or threatened with a negative consequence if he or she does not submit to sexual advances. "Hostile work environment" harassment is when an employee is subjected to a work environment that includes excessive sexual remarks, sexual language or comments, or other offensive conduct.

Discrimination can occur in many forms, including, but not limited to, termination of an individual’s employment. Discrimination can also include placement on a “performance improvement ‘plan,” downgraded performance evaluations, demotions or decreases in pay, termination (even as part of a larger layoff), denial of a requested leave or accommodation, failure to be promoted, subjection to a hostile work environment, unwarranted criticism in public places, solicitation of negative feedback about you from other employees, or any other action that negatively affects your employment.

Ms. Figari is a member of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association, in which she is also a member of the Women’s Caucus, and has written numerous articles and hosted events related to issues in employment litigation and negotiation.
Ms. Figari graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School, with honors, where she received her law degree with a concentration in Labor and Employment Law. Prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Figari worked for Sprenger & Lang, a firm specializing in employment class actions, and for the St. Paul County Attorney’s Office and the Office of the Public Defender in Stillwater, Minnesota.
Ms. Figari was raised in California and Arizona, and graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Politics and Government. During college, Ms. Figari served as captain of a nationally ranked mock trial team, and completed a summer internship with GalleryWatch Legislative Tracking in Washington, D.C.
Ms. Figari is an avid runner, practices yoga, and enjoys spending time with her family.
