Our Chicago injury lawyers have the skill and perseverance to achieve the best possible result for you. Read about our successes.

We form winning relationships inside and outside of court

Our Chicago personal injury attorneys take a personal interest in you and your case. We get to know you as an individual so we can determine how to best represent you. We also have experience with and a positive reputation among the judges, insurers and opposing counsel, in Cook County and beyond. At the Law Offices of Meyer & Blumenshine, we believe that successful legal representation requires personal time and attention, including work at the courthouse.

We aggressively challenge insurance companies

Our Chicago injury lawyers aggressively challenge insurance companies that try to minimize your personal injury claim, and we are always prepared to go to trial. Our firm also handles first-party insurance litigation — we help you file a lawsuit against your own insurance company if it is acting in bad faith.

At the Law Offices of Meyer & Blumenshine, we take pride in assisting people with major insurance claim delays and denials.  The courts have recognized that an insurance policy is not just another contract.  Our Chicago insurance lawyers and injury attorneys have experience with all causes of action against insurers including:

  • Declaratory Judgment
  • Breach of Contract
  • Bad Faith
  • Tort
  • Estoppel, Waiver, Mend the Hold

Insurer's Attempt to Limit Insurance Coverage

The Illinois Supreme Court in Addison Insurance Company v. Donna Fay et al. rejected an insurer’s attempt to limit an insurance policyholder's coverage.  The Supreme Cout ruled that the two boys' deaths on the property of the insured were two occurrences, meaning that the deaths were not a single occurrence as the insurer had attempted to convey. The court protected the insured and ruled that the insurer could not meet its burden of proving that its insurance policy limitation was relevant to the case facts.

Uninsured Motorists Cases Need To Be Carefully Evaluated by an Attorney

A binding arbitration agreement between an injured uninsured motorist claimant and her insurer did not bar her subsequent lawsuit alleging the insurer’s unreasonable and vexatious delay in handling her claim.  In Smith v State Farm, the court reviewed the trial court’s order of summary judgment in favor of State Farm and against the insured plaintiff. The circuit court granted summary judgment on the basis that the binding arbitration agreement barred the insured’s bad faith action and that no evidence of bad faith by State Farm existed.  For cases like this it is important that you hire a Chicago car accident lawyer with significant experience with insurance law and underinsure motorist disputes.
