We practice primarily in the areas of commercial transactions, employment law, trade secret protection, bankruptcy, commercial and administrative litigation, and insurance law matters. We represent many clients in matters throughout the United States in conjunction with local counsel, where appropriate. Also, we advise and serve as local counsel for non-Maryland counsel in matters involving Maryland law or which are pending before Maryland courts and administrative agencies.

Jack L. B. Gohn
Jack L. B. Gohn concentrates his practice in the areas of administrative, employment, and business litigation and lobbying. His clients include regulated entities, employers, staffing companies, and real estate developers, and those who deal with them. A 1981 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Law and a former federal judicial law clerk, he has been effective in such endeavors as affecting the shape of impending regulations, protecting professional licenses, defending against employment tort claims, and resolving business disputes. He has been active in the Maryland State Bar Association, where he was Chair of the Administrative Law Section in 2002-03. And he seeks to foster discussion of important issues within the legal profession. To that end, he serves on the Maryland Daily Record Lawyers’ Editorial Advisory Board, and also publishes a column in the Daily Record. He is also a frequent teacher and writer under the aegis of the Maryland Institute for Continuing Education for Lawyers (MICPEL) and the Maryland Judicial Institute. He is a member of the Maryland Bar Foundation, the Wranglers Law Club, and the Baltimore Courthouse and Law Museum Foundation.
David Lawrence Hankey
David Lawrence Hankey practices in the areas of corporate, employment, and insurance law. Among his clients are some of the country’s largest staffing and recruitment firms, along with several insurers and insurance brokers. His practice includes advising on commercial transactions of various kinds, employment disputes, trade secret protection, and non-competition agreement drafting and enforcement. He has practiced with a large national law firm, and one of the world’s largest financial services companies. David was a member of the adjunct faculty at the University of Baltimore Law School, and has taught continuing education courses for the Maryland Bar Association’s Maryland Institute for Continuing Education for Lawyers (MICPEL). He likewise lectures frequently for business and non-profit groups on issues pertaining to employment law. David is a member of the Maryland Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for District Seven.
Jan Berlage
Jan Berlage’s practice focuses on general business litigation, ranging from commercial disputes to bankruptcy and civil rights litigation. Jan has experience in trials, arbitrations, mediations and administrative hearings in both federal and state court, including arguments before the Maryland Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. Prior to private practice, Jan served as law clerk to the Honorable E. Stephen Derby, U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maryland. Jan has taught pretrial litigation practice at the University of Maryland, School of Law and served on the Board of Governors for the Maryland State Bar Association. Jan is a member of the Connecticut, New York, Maryland, and District of Columbia bars, as well as numerous federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. He has chaired numerous committees for the ABA Young Lawyers Division, including its Ethics and Professionalism, Bankruptcy, and Individual Rights and Responsibilities Committees
